Abstract

Kalsiumioneista puhdistettu prosessivesi palautetaan paperin- tai massanvalmistusprosessiin vähentämällä tai estämällä siten prosessissa kiertävien kalsiumionien akkumuloitumista.The present invention relates to a method for treating circulating waters in paper or pulp manufacturing processes, in which the method provides a process water stream separated from an aqueous suspension of cellulose pulp in a paper or pulp manufacturing process, said separated process water having a high level of free calcium ions. The pH of the process water is provided to be at least pH 9. An amount of gaseous carbon dioxide is introduced into the process water sufficient to precipitate a substantial portion of the calcium ions as solid calcium carbonate in the water and to cause a reduction in the level of free calcium ions in the water. The process water purified from calcium ions is returned to the paper or pulp manufacturing process, thereby reducing or preventing the accumulation of calcium ions circulating in the process.
