Abstract

Järjestelmä ja menetelmä hienonnetun selluloosapitoisen kuitumateriaalin, esimerkiksi puuhakkeen, suspension syöttämiseksi käsittelyastian, esimerkiksi vuokeittimen, yläosaan sekä materiaalin käsittelemiseksi metallien poistamiseksi ennen keittoa. Pumpattaessa suspensiota ainakin ensimmäisellä ja toisella sarjaankytketyllä pumpulla lisätään ainakin yhden pumpun kohdalla tai sen ylävirran puolella kemikaaleja (happoja ja/tai kelatointiaineita), jotka liuottavat materiaalin metallit, ja edullisesti jonkin verran nestettä poistetaan, jotta ainakin noin 10 % (esimerkiksi noin 20 - 80 %) materiaalissa olevista metalleista saadaan poistettua. Edullisesti metallinpoisto tapahtuu olennaisesti juuri ennen alkalista keittoa.A system and method for feeding a suspension of finely divided cellulosic fibrous material, e.g. wood chips, to the top of a processing vessel, e.g. a bed digester, and treating the material to remove metals prior to cooking. While pumping the suspension by at least a first and a second series-connected pump, chemicals (acids and/or chelating agents) are added at or upstream of at least one of the pumps to dissolve the metals in the material, and preferably some liquid is removed to remove at least about 10% (e.g. about 20-80%) of the metals in the material. Preferably, the metal removal occurs substantially immediately prior to alkaline cooking.
