Abstract

In a multisystem circular knitting machine, in particular a rib knitting machine, in which sinkers (4) which project between the needles can be moved at least in the latters' longitudinal direction by a sinker cam (8) so as to enable the distance required for forming a stitch to be covered partly by the sinkers, the feet (17, 19) of the needles or the drivers (16a, 16b) driving the needles at each knitting system can be associated, by at least one pattern device (25), with a respective cam for backing (sic), tucking or knitting. In order to reduce the manufacturing costs of the machine by a greatly simplified cam structure, according to the invention the cam provided for backing (sic), of the needles or the drivers driving the needles is provided by the sinker cam (8).
