Abstract

A modular utility pole (2) which is made from a plurality of blocks (10, 12, 14) which are moulded or extruded from clay or cement. The blocks have aligned openings through which tendons (15) pass. Anchoring means (30, 34) are provided at the base and top of the pole for holding the ends of the tendons under tension whereby a post-tensioned pole is produced.
