Abstract

The device acts on the injection pump so as to interrupt the supply during abnormal operation of the engine or subsidiary parts of it. It comprises a shaft (1) sliding in a sleeve (2) of appropriate shape on which is placed an electromagnet (3). The electromagnet has a core forming a plunger (4). When the electromagnet (3) is supplied with power, the plunger presses on a ball (5) so as to hold the shaft (1) by means of a suitable notch which is cut into the said shaft (1) when the engine is being set up or put into service. The end (9) of the shaft (1) is connected by a rod (13) or cable to the actuating link (15) for interrupting the supply to the injection pump (14). The shaft (1) is moved by a spring (11) when the electromagnet is no longer supplied with power as a result of action by probes for detecting abnormal functioning. This frees the blocking element (5) and hence allows the shaft (1) to move.
