Abstract

An inhibitor is provided which compares at 17 the engine speed 16 with a predetermined engine speed 18 and, if the transmission is sought to be engaged while the predetermined speed is exceeded, prevents transmission engagement. The driver has to select disengagement of the transmission and reduce the engine speed below the predetermined speed before the transmission can be re-engaged.
