O UN MUTANTE DEL MISMO EN UN MEDIO LIQUIDO QUE CONTIENE FUENTES ASIMILABLES DE CARBONO, NITROGENO Y SALES INORGANICAS HASTA QUE SE IMPARTE UNA ACTIVIDAD ANTIBIOTICA SUBSTANCIAL AL CALDO DE FERMENTACION PARA LUEGO RECUPERAR DEL MISMO EL ANTIBIOTICO. LA TEMPERATURA DEL CULTIVO DE FERMENTACION SE MANTIENE A 25-35 C DURANTE UN PERIODO DE 24 A 150 HORAS. EL MICROORGANISMO ACTINOMADURA YUMPENSE SP. NOV. SE SOMETE A MEDIOS MUTAGENETICOS DE MANERA TAL QUE EL MICROORGANISMO ES GENETICAMENTE ALTERADO PERO RETIENE AUN LA CAPACIDAD DE SINTETIZAR LOS ANTIBIOTICOS LL-C23024 ALFA, BETA E IOTA.
