Abstract

A cylinder and dial type of circular knitting machine incorporates a dial needle selecting device, said device enabling any individual selection of all the dial needles (4), even on small diameter machines. With the dial needles (4), there are associated respective jacks (10) which are movable vertically and provided with selection butts (13), while between the dial needles (4) and respective jacks (10), flexible, preferably U-shaped, needle pushers (22) are arranged which are movable in the needle grooves (5) of the dial (2). The needle pushers (22) have each a butt (23) in engagement with cams for moving out the dial needles (4). Through the selective movement of the jacks (10), the needle pushers (22) can be squeezed inside the grooves (5) such that their butts (23) disengage from the cams and, accordingly, the needle pushers (22) do not push the respective needles (4) out.
