Abstract
In a method of producing a flat cell having a zinc anode, an alkaline electrolyte and a cathode in the form of a brown haematite/carbon briquette (1) which is in contact with a metal closure (2), the brown haematite/carbon briquette is mounted on the negative metal closure (2) as a result of a clamping action along two oppositely situated edges of the metal closure which are bent over. This provides a satisfactory contact between the brown haematite/carbon briquette (1) and the metal closure (2) and at the same time a battery comprising a plurality of flat cells is suitable for mass production since the brown haematite/carbon briquette (1) can be pushed in from the side along two oppositely situated bent-over edges of the closure plate (2). The closure plate (2) has only to be bent over through slightly more than 90 DEG .
