Abstract
Procedimiento de preparar continuamente ácido tercifálico, por oxidación de p-xileno, con oxígeno molecular en disolvente a base de ácido acético, caracterizado porque la oxidación se realiza a una temperatura de 205 a 230ºC en presencia de un catalizador de oxidación que comprende (a) un compuesto de cobalto en una cantidad de por lo menos 120 ppm e inferior a 200 ppm como cobalto basado en el peso de disolvente, (b) un compuesto de manganeso suficiente para proporcionar una relación en peso de manganeso/cobalto de 0,5 a 1,5 y (c) un compuesto de bromo elegido de entre bromuro de hidrógeno, bromuro de cobalto y bromuro de manganeso en una cantidad de 200 a 1000 ppm como bromo basado en el peso de disolvente, manteniéndose el contenido de agua de la fase líquida del sistema de reacción a 4%-14% en peso.
