Abstract

The vessels are esp. melting- or holding furnaces, and the bottom-pour stopper consists of a stationary base plate(a) above a sliding plate(b) and possibly a cover plate( ) under plate(b), each plate has an outlet hole. The upper surface of plate(a) is in direct contact with the molten metal, whereas its lower surface is in contact with plate(b). Plate(a) has a surface exposed to the melt of at least 1.5 times the length of the stroke of slide(b). Plate(a, b) are pref. made of material with high thermal conductivity (TC), whereas plate(c) has a low TC. The nozzle brick pref. contain an induction heating coil. Accurate flow of the metal w.r.t. time is obtd. and stopper blockage is prevented.
