Abstract

The device comprises a nozzle having in sequence convergent, narrow and divergent portions, and a continuous slit 8 for the introduction of liquid for extrusion dividing the divergent portion longitudinally into two distinct parts 2 and 3. The slit width should be from 0.2 to 2 mm, preferably from 0.5 to 0.9 mm. Cutting fluid is transmitted through the nozzle in the direction of arrow B. A solution emulsion or dispersion of a polymer in a liquid medium to be extruded is introduced in the direction of arrow A through inlet 4 into channel 6 and thence into 8. Excess liquid leaves through an outlet D (not shown) to be recycled. Fibrous material leaves in direction of arrow C.
