Abstract
El término "alquilo de C1-C4" incluye grupos alquilo tales como metilo, etilo, n-propilo, isobutilo, n-butilo, isopropilo, sec-butilo y t-butilo, y el término "alquenilo de C3-C4" incluye alilo, metalilo y crotilo. Se ha encontrado que varios alcaloides que se presentan en forma natural obtenibles de la Vinca rosea son activos en el tratamiento de malignidades experimentales en los animales. Entre estos se encuentran la leurosina, la vincaleukoblastina que se denomina en lo sucesivo como VLB, la leuroformina; la leurosidina (vinrosidina) y la leurocristina (vincristina); la deoxi VLB "A" y "B", Tetrahedron Letters, 783 (1958); la 4- desacetoxivinblastina la 4-desacetoxi-3''-hidroxivinblastina; la leurocolombina y la vincadiolina. Dos de estos alcaloides, la VLB y la vincristina, ahora son vendidos como medicamentos para el tratamiento de malignidades, particularmente las leucemias y enfermedades relacionadas en los seres humanos. La vincristina es el agente más activo y útil en el tratamiento de leucemias pero también es el menos abundante de los alcaloides anti-neoplásticos de Vinca rosea. Estos alcaloides ordinariamente se administran por la vía i.v.
