Method of preparing textile fibers before carding, of the type consisting of: untangling, opening and mechanically cleaning an initial sheet or fabric of textile fiber flakes to transform said fabric into fine locks; in pneumatically pulling these fine strands along a conduit in which an air circulation has been established; in pneumatically collecting these fine locks, at the exit of said duct, on a face of a perforated surface whose other face is subjected to a depression that ensures the aforementioned air circulation, in order to form on the expressed surface a new layer or veil of flakes; in separating the new layer from the perforated surface; in untangling, opening and mechanically cleaning the new layer again; and then in introducing into the card the fibers separated or cleaned in this way, whose method is characterized in that it also consists, in the course of pneumatic entrainment of the fine tufts along the conduit, in widely dispersing the said tufts by increasing the passage section of said conduit towards said perforated surface, thanks to which the new fabric collected on said perforated surface presents a more regular distribution than the initial fabric.
