Abstract

The hand held cutting tool has an automatically retractable blade and is designed esp. for cutting resistant material. The main structure comprises an elongated U-shaped hand grip with the two arms (1, 2) positioned close to one another, so that a hand can grip around them and squeeze them together against the elastic restoring force of the U-shape crosspiece (3). The cutting blade (4) has onw end fixed firmly in one arm (1) while its other, cutting end can pass through an aperture in the top of the other arm (2). The blade-mounting arm (1) has a flexible notched engaging projection (7) on its other end which can be selectively engaged with a rear-facing projection on the top of the second arm (2).
