Abstract

A dispersion (emulsion) glue is applied to the surfaces to be glued. The glue is then completely dried by warming to about 100 DEG C. Before bringing together the surfaces to be glued, the dried glue is warmed to its softening point. The surfaces are then pressed against one another until the glue has set. The process permits gluing of pre-glue-coated foil strips (13), as edge material, in particular onto chipboard panels (1). The glue-coated and dried foil strips are drawn off from a roll magazine (stock roll) (12). The softened glue gives clean (tidy) glue joints, at high travel speeds and with a short glue-setting zone. Workpieces (1) and foils (13) or veneers can be glue-coated simultaneously. Before being brought together, the glue-coated surfaces can be first dried by means of a joint air supply duct for warm air (9), having exit nozzles (11, 16) on both sides, and can then be warmed further until the glue softens.
