Abstract
Method and apparatus for low pressure die casting, in which method the molten metal is pushed up, into a die, through a riser, fed with the molten metal by gas pressure, applied to the surface of the metal, employing a two-phase overpressure circuit, the first operating at high pressure, such that the second raises the molten metal from the furnace metal level, substantially to the upper end of the riser, and the second phase, operating to fill the die cavity completely, and maintain pressure while the casting cools and contracts; the volume of the flow of the gas pressure of the second phase is kept almost constant by means of a compensated pressure of the flow control, while the back pressure increases during the process of filling the die and solidifying the cast part.
