Abstract
A method of preparing a liquid detergent composition comprising a homogeneous aqueous system containing a synthetic detergent active material, selected from the group consisting of anionic, nonionic, amphoteric and zwitterionic detergents and mixtures thereof and sodium tripolyphosphate, characterized in that the synthetic detergent active material and sodium tripolyphosphate are mixed with an aqueous solution of a soap composition consisting of a mixture of (A) at least one C8-C14 saturated fatty acid sodium soap and (B) at least one soap sodium mono- and/or di-unsaturated fatty acids C16-C22 where the weight ratio of soap (A) to soap (B) is between 9: 1 and 1: 9, in proportions such that a liquid detergent composition is formed consisting of 10-50% by weight of total active detergent material, 5-30% by weight of sodium tripolyphosphate and 1-20% by weight of said soap composition and having a viscosity of approximately 100 to 2000 centipoises.
