Abstract

A procedure for the preparation of an anti-acne composition for topical administration, containing about 0.01 to 0.2% by weight of an anti-acne agent selected from the group consisting of 1,1'-hexatylene-bis -5- (hexyl) biguanide, 1,1'-hexamethylene-bis-5- (hoptyl) biguanide, 1,1'-hexamethylene-bis-5- (n-octyl) -biguanide, 1,1'-hexamethylene- bis-5- (2-ethylhexyl) biguanide, 1,1'-hexamethylene-bis-5- (nonyl) biguanide and their pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts; a skin penetrating agent selected from the group consisting of lauryl lactate, methylpyrrolidone, methyl salicylate and acidic Vitamin A, where lauryl lactate constitutes 10 to 20% of the weight of the preparation, methylpyrrolidone constitutes 36 to 41% of the weight of the preparation, methyl salicylate constitutes 5 to 9% of the weight of the preparation and acidic Vitamin A constitutes 0.05 to 0.1% of the weight of the preparation; and a pharmaceutically acceptable solvent suitable for topical application; and optionally an antioxidant; whose procedure consists of: (a) stirring the anti-acne agent in a suitable solvent, while adding a solution containing the skin penetrating agent and a minimal amount of said suitable solvent; (b) aging the resulting mixture, with stirring and (c) add the rest of the solvent and age the highlight mixture with continuous stirring, to ensure uniformity; being able to be added; optionally an antioxidant before the mixture ages.
