Hot water softening apparatus, comprising a tank, first partition means located inside said tank to define a mixing chamber above them and below them a clarification chamber, said mixing chamber having first inlet means associated therewith for receiving raw water to be treated and second inlet means associated therewith for receiving steam for heating said water to be treated, a down pipe centrally located within said tank having an upper end in fluid communication with said mixing chamber and a lower end in fluid communication with a lower portion of said clarification chamber, said clarification chamber having outlet means associated with an upper portion thereof, and mud barrier means located within said clarification chamber between the lower and upper portions thereof to remove the particles pendidas dragged in the water that rises passing through it.
