Procedure for the preparation of sheets and films of polyolefinic material, similar to paper, characterized in that in its realization it comprises carrying out, in the order shown, the following operations: a) formation of a homogeneous, substantially anhydrous sheet or panel, consisting of at least 70% by weight of fibrils obtained from at least one olefinic polymer with a molecular weight of between 30,000 and 300,000 and an index of fusion between 1.5 and 30, and b) Sintering of the polyolefinic fibrils contained in said sheet or panel, by heating them under pressure, at a temperature equal to or greater than the softening temperature of the olefinic polymer, until at least partial fusion of only the superficial fibrous parts.
