Abstract

A method of spraying liquid from a nozzle port and which is intended to optimize the size and number of the droplets, comprising: supplying liquid under pressure to the nozzle port; substantially increase the ratio of the dynamic pressure to the static pressure of the liquid in the nozzle orifice; forming an inverted conical sheet of liquid under pressure on a conical wall member, upstream of the nozzle orifice; driving said liquid conical sheet along said wall member, past the nozzle orifice, into the atmosphere; forming a tubular sheet of liquid under pressure, upstream of the nozzle orifice, each of said sheets being conical and tubular of liquid thin with respect to its circumferential radius; and directing said liquid tube sheet so that it intersects said liquid tapered sheet before the latter leaves the wall member, so that the resulting liquid tapered stream is broken into droplets substantially free of droplets with smaller sizes 30 microns, which would form a mist that would be blown away.
