Abstract
Procedure for obtaining azo dyes, free of sulfonic acid groups and additional carboxylic acid groups, of formula: **(See formula)** wherein A is the radical of a hydrazoic component of the aromatic or heterocyclic series; the X and Y rings can be substituted by hydroxy, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, acylamino or a carboxylic acid group; R1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkenyl radical or an optionally substituted alkyl radical; R2 is a hydrogen atom or an optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical; and the sole carboxylic acid group is present as a substituent on the X and Y rings or is attached to a radical represented by R1 and R2; characterized in that it comprises diazotizing an amine of formula A-NH2 and coupling the resulting diazo compound with a coupling component of formula: **(See formula)** wherein A, Z, Y, R1 and R2 are defined as above and the carboxylic acid group is present as a substituent on rings X and Y or is attached to a radical represented by R1 or R2, the amine and the component being free for coupling sulfonic acid groups and additional carboxylic acid groups.
