Abstract

Procedure for preparing an aqueous coating composition, characterized in that it comprises: (1) prepare an epoxy-amine adduct by mixing a di-epoxide and a secondary amine in equimolar proportions, allowing them to react; (2) adding to the said reaction product a primary monoamine or a diamine in an amount equivalent to the residual epoxy groups of said reaction product, immediately after the completion of the initial isothermal co-reaction; (3) adding a crosslinking agent consisting of a solution, in a water-soluble organic liquid, of a butylated urea-formaldehyde condensate, (4) add at least 0.4 moles of acid with a pK of 1.5 to 6.0 per mole of amine base and finally, (5) Disperse the product thus formed in water with mechanical agitation.
