Abstract
Process for purifying phosphoric acid, especially phosphoric acid obtained according to a wet process, by extracting phosphoric acid from its aqueous solution with the help of an organic solvent that is not miscible with water or is limitedly miscible in it and is capable of dissolve phosphoric acid, separation of phosphoric acid dissolved in the organic solvent from the extraction residue, and recovery of phosphoric acid from the organic solution, characterized in that the doped aqueous phosphoric acid is mixed in a reaction proportion in volume 1: 3 to 1:30, with a solvent whose boiling point is above the boiling point of water or the azeotropic mixture that is formed from water and the solvent, and the mixture consisting of phosphoric acid and in the solvent it is heated to temperatures between the boiling point of water or the boiling point of the azeotropic mixture, on the one hand, and the boiling point of the solvent, on the other hand, until substantially all of the uncombined water has been removed from the mixture by distillation, before the anhydrous solution is separated from the residue formed resulting from phosphoric acid in the organic solvent.
