Abstract

An incidence type particle separator apparatus including the combination comprising: a contact and washing tower, a plurality of gas-liquid contact means in the lower portion of said tower, a gas stream passage at the top of said tower, at least two particle separator sections, vertically spaced in said gas stream passage, each of said particle separator sections comprising a plurality of vertically arranged three-step zigzag plate members, horizontally spaced from each other, a liquid collector located above the lowest of said particle separator sections, directing liquid droplets downwards on said lower particle separator section, a liquid collector located below said lower particle separator section, which directs liquid droplets upwards on said lower particle separating section, a plate d eflector below said lower particle separator section, a separator tray below said deflector plate and above said gas-liquid contact means, and means to recirculate the liquid collected in said separator tray to each of the collectors cited, whereby the surfaces of the lower of said particle separating sections are liquid washed from above and below to effect removal of particles from them.
