Abstract
A method of preparing a hydrorefin catalyst comprising: (a) impregnating a refractory inorganic oxide support material with an aqueous solution of a soluble compound of a Group VI B metal and a Group VIII metal at the same time as running rapid evaporation of water from said solution, the volume ratio of impregnating solution to support material being approximately 0.5: 1 to 2: 1; (b) partially calcining the impregnated support material for approximately 1/2 hour at least at a temperature of approximately 100 to 427ºC; and (c) calcining the material from step (b) at a temperature of about 621ºC for about 1 to about 4 hours in an atmosphere comprising at least about 25% steam.
