Abstract
Procedure for manufacturing conductive bicomponent fibers, characterized in that it comprises applying a conductive coating to a bicomponent fiber that includes two synthetic polymer components arranged in different areas through the cross section of said fiber and being continuous throughout the length of said fiber, deriving the first component of a fiber-forming polymer and the second component of a polymeric material having a lower melting point than said fiber-forming polymer and being positioned to form at least a portion of the peripheral surface of said fiber; and then heating to a temperature sufficient to melt said second component to at least a portion of said conductive coating but less than the melting point of said fiber-forming polymer.
