Abstract

Procedure for the preparation of new racemic or optically active 1-phenoxy-2-hydroxy-3-alcoholylaminopropanes of the general formula ** (See formula) ** where R means an alcohol group with 1 to 5 carbon atoms; R 1 is a nitrile group (-C ≡ N), carboxy, hydroxy, amino, nitro or trifluoromethyl or an alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy, alkynyloxy, hydroxyalkyl, alcoxialcohilo, aminoalcohilo, alcohilaminoalcohilo, dialcohilarainoalcohilo, alkylamino, dialkylamino, nitriloalkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl, alcoholylthio, acyl, acyloxy or acylamino with up to 5 carbon atoms, an aryl, aralkoxy, aryloxy, aralkoxy or arylamino group with up to 10 carbon atoms or a halogen atom; R2 means hydrogen, a halogen atom, a nitrile group or an alcohol, alkoxy or alkenyl group with up to 5 carbon atoms or together with R1 a 3,4-methylenedioxy group (without other substituents); R3 means hydrogen, a halogen atom, an alcohol or alkoxy group with up to 5 carbon atoms; and n signifies an integer from 2 to 7, as well as its physiologically compatible acid addition salts, characterized in that in a compound of the general formula ** (See formula) ** in which R, R1 to R3 and n have the aforementioned meanings and G means a group easily separable by hydrolysis, the group G is replaced by hydrolysis by hydrogen, and by which the racemic compounds obtained of formula I are eventually transformed, by reaction with appropriate auxiliary acids, in their diastereoisomeric salts, and the latter are separated by fractional crystallization.
