Abstract
Production of leaded steel in which the Pb is contained only in the form of microinclusions small enough to prevent adverse effects on the mechanical props. of the steel, comprises adding the excess Pb to the furnace, ladle or tundish thereby effecting large Pb absorbtion. To prevent the excess Pb collecting at the bottom from running into the ingot mould, the tapping pipe have raised upper rims protruding into the ladle etc. above floor level.
