Abstract

A process for preparing a pigment loaded paper product having improved properties comprising adding to a pulp slurry, in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 80% by weight based on the weight of dry pulp, a Insoluble, infusible, nonporous, particulate, urea-formaldehyde polymer having a molar ratio of urea to formaldehyde of between about 1: 1 and about 1: 2 and a BET specific surface area of between about 5 and about 100 m2/g, and transform the resulting pasta porridge into a sheet of paper.
