Abstract

A machine for cleaning intestinal skins or gut comprises a pair of driven rollers 10, 11 which are geared together, by gear wheels 12, 13, to rotate in opposite directions and provide a nip between them through which the skins pass, each roller being rotatably mounted on a stationary journal shaft 14 supported at one end only from a support mounting 17 via a cylindrical part 15 to which it is secured eccentrically, the cylindrical part being rotatable, by manipulation of a handle 20 or 22, in a bore 16 in the mounting to vary the spacing of the roller shafts, the adjusted rotational position of the shafts being maintained by a clamping screw 21 or 23. A stub shaft 19 co-axial with the part 15 rotatably carries a gear 24 in a gear train through which the rollers are driven.
