Unión o empalme para tubos, caracterizada por comprender una pieza macho y una pieza hembra que se roscan una en otra; una de las cuales es atravesada por el tubo que se ha de empalmar, mientras que la otra forma un paso para el fluido, estando ambas piezas provistas interiormente de superficies anulares, cónicas o planas, que encajan una en otra y dispuestas de modo que entre ellas queda sujetado y comprimido el borde del extremo del tubo, previamente ensanchado o doblado hacia afuera.
