Abstract

An organic resin bonded electrically conductive grinding wheel for electrochemical grinding contains abrasive grains in a thermoset resin matrix and contains 10 to 25% by volume of finely divided silver in the form of conducting paths. The resin may be a phenolic resin and the abrasive may be diamond, aluminium oxide or silicon carbide. The wheels may be made by forming a mix of resin powder with a curing agent such as hexamethylene tetramine and 10 to 25% by volume of silver powder having a particle size less than 10 microns, blending the mix with abrasive grains and moulding and curing the resin to a thermoset condition.
