Abstract
An apparatus for cutting a wire and for stressing to the cut end of the wire an electrical bushing of essentially U-shaped section, the apparatus comprising a tool head; an embossing stamp on the tool head and a face of which defines a channel having shaping surfaces on the sleeve; an anvil to be stressed, the die and anvil being movable relatively towards each other to cause the bushing when disposed on the anvil to be stressed to the wire between the anvil and the shaping surfaces; characterized by a slot defined by the head and extending between two opposite faces of the head and transversely to the channel so that the uncut wire can be inserted into the slot in a transverse direction relative to the longitudinal axis of the wire with a part of the wire extending inside the channel; a wire cutting edge extending transversely to the channel; a wire cutter member, the cutting edge and cutting member being relatively movable to cut the wire between the part of the wire in the groove and the part of the wire in the channel; and a mechanism for initially performing relative movement between the edge and the cutting member and subsequently effecting relative movement between the die and the anvil to stress the bushing to the part of the wire comprised in the channel.
