Abstract

Spark ignition system comprising, in combination, a switch that can be connected and disconnected by signals applied to a control electrode that is part of the switch; means for applying signals to said electrode, in order to connect and disconnect the switch and thus produce the necessary sparks; a transformer with the primary winding in series with the switch, and the secondary coupled to the control or firing electrode, in order to increase the excitation of the latter when the switch is turned off, and thereby reduce the time required to disconnect it; and a capacitor in circuit with the switch in such position that, when this begins to disconnect, the current that passes through it is diverted through the capacitor, until it is charged, and the capacitor, by its position, does not dissipate the energy stored in said winding primary.
