Abstract

This force may be applied by passing the material over one or more rotary members having a total rotary moment of inertia not exceeding 15 gm. cm2. Such a member may comprise a disc fixed to which are felt rings between fixed and slidable plates latter being urged towards the adjacent ring by a adjustable spring 15. In another form, a drum rotatable on a fixed shaft carries a felt disc, the position of the shaft relative to a fixed bearing-surface being adjustable.
