Abstract

The invention relates to driving gear with a rotating mechanical seal for difficult application in highly abrasive and corrosive environments, in particular for use as a chain-drum bearing in scraper chain conveyors, milling loaders and the like. In the interior of the bearing housing, the running mechanism according to the invention has a rotating mechanical seal with two metal slip rings of different profile. One slip ring has an L-shaped profile and is seated with its axial leg on the shaft, while the other slip ring surrounds this axial leg and is held in sealing contact with the radial leg of the first-mentioned slip ring under the action of a O-ring seal. The L-shaped slip ring, which rotates with the shaft, expediently serves simultaneously as a sealing ring for the shaft opening of the bearing housing and also expediently as a stop ring for the bearing. The race is secured in the bearing housing by a flange neck.
