Abstract

A stand has a base (2) for rotatably supporting a bowl (4), and a column (3) having an overhanging arm (6) for supporting a mixer (14) having at least one removable beater shank (15). The arm (6) is formed as a closed casing and carries a transmission mechanism (8) for driving the bowl (4) through drive wheel (12). The transmission mechanism has a coupling wheel (10) which is journalled in the housing and which has a central aperture (13) for accepting the shank (15) which is inserted into the mixer (4) through the aperture (13) so that it engages both with the coupling wheel (10) and the mixer drive (17, Fig. 2). Engagement is preferably effected by the interaction of lugs (18, 20 Fig. 2) on the shank (15) with axial slots (19, 21 Fig. 2) in the respective members (10, 17).
