Abstract

A vulcanizable composition comprises an amorphous copolymer of ethylene with an a -olefin such as propylene or butene, an organic peroxide and sulphur as vulcanizing agents, and at least one metal soap of Zn, Pb, Cd and/or Sn with an organic acid, such as palmitic, stearic, lauric, oleic, naphthenic, resinic, bezzoic, oxynaphthoic or substituted benzoic acid. The soap may be formed in situ Pb and/or Zn oxides also may be present. In examples chlorinated t-butyl peroxide and dicumyl peroxide are used in conjuction with sulphur as vulcanizing agents and additional materials present are sodium polybutadiene and kaolin. The products are useful as electric insulation. Specification 878,004 is referred to.
