Procedimiento para la preparación de 16alfa,17alfa-oxido-5alfa- ó -5beta-pregnan-3,11,20-triona, caracterizado porque se emplea como producto de partida la 16alfa,17alfa-oxido-pregn-4-en-3,20-diona (16alfa,17alfa-oxido-5alfa-oxido-progesterona) y se llega a la deseada 16alfa,17alfa-oxido-5alfa ó 5beta-pregnan-3,11,20-triona pasando por la 11alfa-oxi-16alfa,17alfa-oxido-pregn-4-en-3,20-diona correspondiente, que se obtiene como producto intermedio sometiendo a oxidación microbiológica el material de partida.
