Abstract

Procedimiento de obtención de terftalato dimetílico de elevada pureza, caracterizado por partirse de metanol y ácido terftálico, que puede prepararse por oxidación catalítica de un para diakilbenceno inferior y por comprender el hacer reaccionar el ácido con el metanol en presencia de un catalizador de esterificación, a una temperatura del orden de 60 a 200º C una presión manométrica de 0 a 750 libras por pulgada cuadrada, y un tiempo del orden de 0,5 a 40 horas, para proporcionar la esterificación prácticamente completa, el separar las impurezas sólidas y el recuperar por fraccionamiento el producto de elevada pureza.
