Abstract

Un silenciador de escape 21 que comprende un escudo envolvente interior 26, cuyo espacio interno se utiliza como cámara de expansión 25 dispuesta para hacer que los gases de escape E pasen a su través, un catalizador 72 situado en la cámara de expansión 25, y una pared separadora 53(A) situada en dicha cámara de expansión 25 para dividir a ésta en otras cámaras que estén aguas arriba y aguas abajo del catalizador 72, respectivamente. La pared separadora 53(A) comprende, a su vez, un cuerpo principal 55 de dicha pared separadora dispuesto de modo que se extienda a través de la cámara de expansión 25, y una pestaña cilíndrica 56 formada a lo largo de una parte de borde circunferencial exterior del cuerpo principal 55 de la pared separadora. Una superficie circunferencial exterior de la pestaña 56 está unida a una superficie interna del escudo envolvente interior 26. La superficie circunferencial exterior de la pestaña 56 está sujeta firmemente a la superficie interna del escudo interior 26 alo largo de toda la circunferencia de dicha pestaña.
