Abstract

Ion exchanger material which has been used e.g. in water treatment is regenerated by exposing it in a liq. to a pulsating constant voltage field or to an alternating voltage. The range utilised for the direct current is 70-10000 mA and/or for the frequency 10 kHz-10 MHz. In embodiment, a container with the ion exchanger material to be generated encloses a cathode and an anode joined to a d.c. source. Another electrode is fed by an a.c. source (7) with a timing control (8). A liq., pref. normal tap water, covers the ion exchanger material. The d.c. voltage applied to the electrodes is 30V-380V (50V-260V) the source is an alternating or pulsating d.c. voltage with a frequency of 1kHz-10 MHz (10 kHz -10 MHz). The time cycle lasts 9 secs. to 1 min.
