Abstract

The apparatus consists of at least one nut (2) with a lateral lug which has a hole through it to receive a screw fixing laterally into the diaphysis of one of the bones/fragments (18), and a threaded rod (6) which fits into the nut and has a head (7) on its end for rotating it. The top of the threaded rod has a connecting piece with two branches (12a,12b) which have holes in their free ends for screws fixed laterally to the other bone/fragment (19). The two branches of the connecting piece form a V-shape and are offset relative to one another along the axial line of the threaded rod, the head of which is cylindrical in shape with radial holes for a bar to be inserted for rotating the head.
