Abstract

Device and procedure for determining vehicle performances. The device comprises at least one sensor 6 for the linear velocity of the vehicle and one sensor 7 for the angular velocity of the engine, electronic means 5 of receiving and processing the signals from the sensors, a microprocessor 1 for controlling the operation of the device and carrying out calculations, a data storage unit 2, a display screen 3 and a numeric and function keyboard 4 all the components are fitted on the vehicle itself. This device is used in the procedure according to the invention. Tests are carried out on the running vehicle under actual traffic conditions: a test to determine the effective running parameters of the vehicle, an acceleration test at full acceleration, an inertial deceleration test. The results are used to calculate the vehicle's performances. The torque and power curves and other characteristics are reliably determined without the need for fixed installations.
