Abstract

Disclosed is a portable shelter for protecting against strong winds and solar radiation, which comprises a polygonal elastic textile cover connected along the lower perimeter thereof, by sewing, to a system for anchoring to the ground formed by flaps and bags, wherein bags are solidly connected to the cover by a seam, and another bag is connected to the cover by joining elements, by means of a line threaded into an eye in a textile reinforcement at each corner of the cover. The portable shelter also includes at least one upright.

DESCRIPTION

Portable shelter for protection from strong winds and solar radiation

Technical sector

The present invention has its field of application within the sector of portable accessories for outdoor and beach activities as a means of obtaining wind protection and sun protection.

Background of the invention

Many people enjoy visiting river beaches, lakes, and the ocean for outdoor activities such as water sports, relaxing in a relaxing setting, and spending time with family and friends. Problems caused by wind influences determine the length of stay in these environments. Exposure to solar radiation is also a limitation, as it can cause skin damage. Currently, a wide variety of shading and windbreak methods are known in the art. These methods are designed to provide quick and easy setup and effective shading for outdoor recreation or work.

Although several requirements must be met for removable shelters, or at least for those that are quickly constructed, the goal is usually to strike a balance between the level of protection offered by the shelter and the speed, reliability, and ease with which such a structure can be constructed.

Many of the inventions intended to provide sun protection by creating shade are portable and deployable or buildable. They have structures anchored to the ground, deployable telescopic structures or radial ribs, and textile surfaces that form the shading area. Most of these objects are not suitable for windy areas since they do not provide wind protection, tend to break in strong winds, and pose a danger to people when the anchoring systems are inadequate, as in patents US321612A and US1449A. Some of these structures, furthermore, are not suitable for transport to the installation site without a motor vehicle and require more than one person to assemble them, as in patent US7845365B2 and its derivatives. In turn, numerous devices have been invented to protect users from the wind.

Some of these objects deploy vertical flat surfaces and obtain their wind-resistant structure through multiple deep anchors or stakes, such as patent US4838525A. Some of these shelters have shapes more suitable for deflating the wind without deep anchors, but require complex structures to obtain these shapes, such as patents US2266853A, US3190300A and US3242935A. Other registered artifacts seek to simultaneously solve protection against solar radiation and wind. Most of them do so by deploying structures that cannot be transported or assembled by a single user, patent US3242935A, combining anchoring elements and weight of the structure such as artifact DE9215453U1. Other artifacts use the modalities of camping tents, but leave one of the sides open for easy entry and exit, such as patent USD824475. These structures typically do not offer ample space for users and are very heavy to be moved by a person without a vehicle.

The present invention seeks to solve, in a single object, the problems that the aforementioned published documents fail to address, or only partially address. Portability, ease of assembly, and ample, secure protection from the sun and wind are the results of the proposed embodiment.

The shelter's qualities are that it requires no stakes or sharp objects for installation; it's innovative, sporty, aerodynamic, flexible, and purpose-built; it solves the problems that arise when occasionally "inhabiting" beaches, particularly in windy areas.

Explanation of the invention

A portable, removable shelter consisting of an elastic textile cover with at least three heavy-duty anchor bags attached to its ends, which is tensioned by at least one lightweight upright, providing protection from solar radiation and wind, and affording a degree of privacy to its occupants.

Brief description of the drawings

In figure 1, a perspective view of the present invention is illustrated showing the shelter in a first embodiment (small model) with the open side at the front, where an elastic textile cover (10) can be seen tensioned by the opposing forces of the heavy anchor bags (20), the central anchor bag (21) and its joining system composed of a textile reinforcement (14) and a rope (12); the flaps (30) that cover later with their respective seams (11,11'), and the front central post (40) making the general and structural tension of the shelter.

In Figure 2, which illustrates a side view showing the rear side panel of the shelter of the first modality (small model) with the preferential direction of the wind represented by arrows and the forces exerted on an elastic textile cover (10) whose slight deformation is represented by dotted lines.

Said elastic textile cover (10) defines a primitive line of tension according to the intensity of the wind and its deflection caused by the aerodynamic shape that forms the wall of the shelter.

Figure 3 illustrates a front view of the shelter of the first type (small model) with the open front where the formal symmetry of the polygonal pattern of the elastic textile cover (10) in use can be seen, stretched together with the skirts (30) that allow the subsequent closure of the model, the heavy anchoring pockets (20) and the front central post (40) supporting said elastic textile cover (10).

Figure 4 shows a plan view of the first type of shelter (small model), showing the preferred wind direction represented by arrows and how the side walls deflect the wind through their angled arrangement. The components are also named: elastic textile cover (10), heavy anchor pockets (20), flaps (30) with their respective seams (11), front center post (40); and central anchor pocket (21).

In Figure 5, a perspective view of the present invention is illustrated showing the shelter in its second embodiment (large model) with the open side facing forward, where the heavy anchor pockets (20) can be seen at the ends and the skirts (30) with their respective seams (11) that act as side walls, in tension together with the elastic textile cover (10) and the uprights in use. The rear internal uprights (50) and two front central upright units (40) can be seen, arranged vertically and tensioning the elastic textile cover (10).

In Figure 6, a side view of the shelter is illustrated showing the rear panel of the second embodiment (large module) with the preferential wind direction represented by arrows and the forces exerted on the elastic textile cover (10) whose slight deformation is represented by dotted lines. The heavy anchor pockets (20), the central anchor pocket (21) and its joining system by means of a rope (12) to a textile reinforcement (14), the flaps (30), the rear flap (31) and its corresponding seams (11) can be seen.

In figure 7, a front view of the shelter is illustrated in its second form (large module) with the open front where the formal symmetry of the shelter can be seen, the skirts (30) and the rear skirt (31) that allow the rear closure, the heavy anchoring pockets (20) with their corresponding seam connections (11'), the rear internal uprights (50) and two front central upright units (40) supporting the tension of the elastic textile cover (10).

Also reflected is a "detail A" of the support of the elastic textile cover on the end of the upright, the upper end of which is finished with a rounded end so as not to damage the textile.

Figure 8 illustrates a plan view of the shelter in its second form (large module) where the preferential wind direction represented by arrows can be seen, as well as how the side walls deflect the wind by means of their angled arrangement. The heavy anchor bags (20) are marked, which are differentiated from the central anchor bag (21) which serves as a reference as the rear vertex of the elastic textile cover (10) and which also functions as a carrying bag.

Figure 9 illustrates a detail of the type of heavy anchoring bags (20) integrated into the elastic textile cover (10) by means of seams (11') that are different from the seams (11) that join the skirts.

Figure 10 illustrates a detail of the central anchor bag modality (21) attached to the elastic textile cover (10) through a cable (12) or rope passing through an eyelet (13) located in a resistant textile reinforcement (14) located at the end of said elastic textile cover (10).

Figure 11 illustrates a plan view of the elastic textile cover (10) of the first embodiment (small model) arranged flat, without tension.

It can be seen that the central anchor bag (21), joined to the elastic textile cover (10) by means of a rope (12) threaded in an eyelet (13) placed on a textile reinforcement (14) at the rear vertex of the pattern and the heavy anchor bags (20) front that make up the central triangular polygon awning through seams (11') as well as the skirts (30) and their corresponding seams (11).

Figure 12 shows a plan view of the elastic textile cover (10) of the first embodiment (small model) arranged flat, without tension. The central anchor bag (21) and its connecting elements can be seen: rope (12), eyelet (13) and textile reinforcement (14) and the heavy anchor bags (20) joined to the elastic textile cover in the same way, by means of a rope (12) threaded through an eyelet (13) placed on a textile reinforcement (14) at each vertex of the elastic textile cover (10).

In figure 13, a side view of the shelter is illustrated showing the rear panel of the second embodiment (large model) consisting of the elastic textile cover (10), the flaps (30) and rear flap (31) and their corresponding seams (11), without the two front central upright units (40) to allow the front closure as a flap with the rear internal uprights (50) supporting the tension of the elastic textile cover (10). Also seen are the heavy anchor bags (20), their line of seams (11'), the central anchor bag (21) and its joining elements: rope (12), eyelet (13) and textile reinforcement (14).

In figure 14, a front view of the shelter is illustrated in its second form (large model) with the front side closed as a flap where the formal symmetry of the device can be seen, the skirts (30) that allow the rear closure, the rear skirt (31), the heavy anchoring pockets (20) with their corresponding seams (11') and the rear internal uprights (50) as the only tension supports for the elastic textile cover (10).

In figure 15, a plan view of the shelter is illustrated in its first modular configuration modality (small model) where the preferential wind direction interpreted by arrows can be observed and how the side walls deflect the wind by means of their angled arrangement. The forward repetition of the elastic cover pattern module can be seen in its first modality (small model) by means of the union by seams (11"). The shelter is composed of skirts (30) their corresponding seams (11), the heavy anchor bags (20), the elastic textile cover (10) and a central anchor bag (21). In tension by the support of a front central post (40) and a rear internal post (50) of lower height.

In figure 16, a side view of the shelter is illustrated in a modular configuration similar to the first embodiment (small model) with an extension in the front direction showing the rear panel of the shelter. The skirts (30) and their respective seams (11), the central anchor bag (21) and its joining elements can be seen: rope (12) and textile reinforcement (14); the heavy side anchor bags (20) with their corresponding seams (11), an internal rear upright (50) and a front central upright (40) supporting the tension of the elastic textile cover (10) extended from the repetition of the pattern from the central seam (11") forward.

In figure 17, a side view of the shelter is illustrated in a version similar to the first embodiment (small model) with an extension in the front direction. The repetition of the molding module of the elastic textile cover (10) can be seen, plus the flaps (30) that allow the rear closure, the central anchor bag (21) and its joining elements: rope (12) and textile reinforcement (14); the heavy anchor bags (20) with their corresponding seams (11'), a front central post (40) at the back of greater height and a rear internal post (50) of lower height at the front supporting the tension of the elastic textile cover (10) and giving a certain degree of privacy to the users.

Figure 18 illustrates the shelter in its storage situation, where all the components are contained in the central anchor bag (21), the rope (12) and the grab handles (15) for transporting and portability of said shelter.

In figure 19, an additional heavy anchor bag (22) is illustrated, operating independently, directly associated to the front central post (40) by means of a longer rope (12) or cable.

Basically, it includes a ground anchoring system made up of skirts (30), a rear skirt (31), heavy anchor pockets (20) and a central anchor pocket (21), wherein said heavy anchor pockets (20) are integral with said elastic textile cover (10) through seams (11') and in turn said central anchor pocket (21) is associated with said elastic textile cover (10) by joining elements by means of a cable (12) threaded in an eyelet (13) placed on a textile reinforcement (14) at each vertex of said elastic textile cover (10); and it also includes at least one front central post (40) and rear internal posts (50).

Preferred embodiment of the invention

For the specified purposes, the present invention consists of a portable and removable shelter, made up of an elastic textile cover (10) made with a polygonal shape associated with multiple skirts (30), at the ends of which there are heavy anchoring pockets (20) and a central anchoring pocket (21) tensioned by at least one front central post (40) that gives greater tension to the whole.

With more specific reference to FIG. 1, the elastic textile cover (10) generally designates the cover capable of specifically protecting against radiation and wind. In this figure, it is fully deployed, tensioned and in a condition for use.

The shelter comprises an elastic textile cover (10) with a pattern in its elementary configuration from a triangular or trapezoidal polygon, associated with skirts (30), whose shape is derived from a section of an ellipse, hyperbola or parabola.

This shelter allows configurations in its first form FIG. 1 and also allows other configurations that respond to the aforementioned principle of making a polygonal shape associated with skirts (30), as can be seen in FIG. 5, FIG. 14 and FIG. 15 as appropriate to cover different functional objectives.

As illustrated in Figures FIG. 4 and FIG. 8, the invention consists of a deflector shape that divides the force exerted by the wind on the shelter, generating a wide frontal area where the wind has no relevant influence or shelter zone.

As seen in FIG. 2, the wind indicated by arrows can be seen both directed around the structure (indicated in FIG. 4), and directionally up and down. As seen in the figure, it is directed upwards over the upper portion of the structure indicated in section I. The wind indicated by section II is directed downwards starting at the bottom of section I continuing down towards section II. It is noted that the wind in section III provides a great downward force against the elastic fabric exerting greater tension on the heavy anchor pockets (20) and the central anchor pocket (21).

One of the main features of the present invention is the extension of the cover in the general form of elastic textile by means of skirts (30) and/or the rear skirt (31) depending on the model. The skirts (30) can be integrated from a single piece of elastic textile or be an addition of the same elastic textile material. Said skirts (30) and the rear skirt (31) are sections of an ellipse and can be larger, generating an additional surface to which weight or tension can be added in order to maximize the surface area for protection and wind deflection.

The surface that forms a skirt corresponds to the section of an ellipse, a parabola or a hyperbola associated with the polygon of the elastic textile cover (10) to cover those sides that would be uncovered when tensioned by the front central post (40).

One of the main features of the present invention is the front central post (40) that allows the shelter to be assembled and disassembled easily and without the use of any tools. The front central post (40) must be constructed of a lightweight, preferably stainless and hollow material, the upper end of which is finished with a curved surface that does not damage the elastic fabric (detail A, 20 FIG. 7). It must be configured in sections in such a way that it allows its disassembly and storage in a reduced size.

The heavy anchor bags (20) and the central anchor bag (21) are textile elements that allow their filling with dense materials that are freely found in natural environments such as sand, stones and rocks. They are made up of a textile container that, when filled, takes the shape of a bag and can be closed with a cord or rope or other means that prevents the loss of its contents.

The heavy anchor bags (20) and the central anchor bag (21) allow the elastic textile to be tensioned when they separate from each other on flat ground. Fig. 9 and Fig. 10 show two different formats in which the anchor bags can be adhered to the elastic textile cover (10), the first is by means of stitching (11') (Fig. 9). The second method of joining the anchor bag is carried out by joining said anchor by means of a rope (12) (Fig. 10) threaded through an eyelet (13) inserted into a textile reinforcement (14) made of a resistant material such as canvas or leather. The central anchor bag (21) is joined in this way since it allows it to contain all the components of the shelter in the stored situation as seen in Fig. 18.

Referring to FIG. 11 and FIG. 12, the plan view shows how the main anchor bag is connected by means of ropes (12) (FIG. 10) threaded through an eyelet (13) inserted in the textile reinforcement (14) made of a resistant material.

FIG.9 and FIG.11 illustrate the method of joining the heavy anchor bags (20), by means of seams (11') and in FIG.12 the possible functional alternative, by joining by rope (12) threaded in an eyelet (13) inserted in textile reinforcement (14) made of a resistant material.

The central anchor bag (21) is made of elastic textile material identical to that used in the rest of the invention, although larger than the rest of the heavy anchor bags (20) to allow storage of all the elements of the shelter once it is stored. It has straps in the form of grab handles (15) to handle the invention and move it more easily, as seen in FIG. 18.

This shelter allows a second modality with a larger configuration that meets the conditions mentioned in the first modality, but in whose polygonal form the elastic textile cover (10) comprises a variant of trapezoidal polygon, associated with skirts (30) or the rear skirt (31). Fig. 16.

With more specific reference to FIG. 5, the reference to the elastic textile cover (10) designates an elastic textile capable of specifically protecting against radiation and wind. In this figure, the shelter is fully deployed, tensioned and ready for use.

This second type of shelter, whose main characteristic is its trapezoidal polygonal shape, as can be seen in FIG. 8, consists of a deflector shape that divides the force exerted by the wind on the shelter, similar to the shelter in its first version (FIG. 2).

Referring to FIG. 6, the wind can be seen (indicated with arrows) both directed around the structure (indicated in FIG. 8) and directed upwards and downwards, just as in the first version of the shelter configuration (FIG. 2).

One of the main features of the present invention in the second shelter embodiment is the extension of the general shape of the elastic fabric by means of flaps (30) and a rear flap (31). The side flap may be made from a single piece of elastic fabric or be an addition of the same elastic material through a seam (11). Said flaps (30) and rear flap (31) are a section of an ellipse and may be larger, generating an additional surface to which weight or tension may be added in order to maximize the surface area for shelter and wind deflection.

The surface that forms a skirt corresponds to the section of an ellipse, a parabola or a hyperbola associated with the polygon that comprises the elastic textile cover (10) to cover those sides that would be uncovered when tensioned by the front central upright units (40) and rear internal uprights (50).

Referring to FIG.7 the completely open shelter of the second modality can be seen where. The formal symmetry of the shelter of the second modality stands out, the skirts (30) and the rear skirt (31) that allow the rear closure, the heavy anchoring pockets (20) and two types of uprights, the two units of front central upright (40) and the rear internal uprights (50) that have to be located the first ones on the front edge and secondly the rear internal uprights (50), % (three quarters) of the length of the front central upright (40), at a distance of 1 (one) meter supporting the tension of the elastic textile.

The rear internal uprights (50) are presented in a shorter length and at a significant distance from the front central upright units (40), outlining in a side view of the shelter profile in its second form (FIG.5) a double primitive line of tension that deflects the direction of the wind due to the continuity of the aerodynamic shape that it forms.

In the second modality, as seen in the side view of the shelter (FIG.6) the stretched elastic textile forms the same primitive line of tension that deflects the direction of the wind due to the aerodynamic shape it forms.

Given this configuration, the wind is directed upwards over the upper portion of the structure indicated in the upper section.

It then tends to act in a downward direction, starting from the bottom and moving towards the middle section. It is noteworthy that the wind in the lower section provides a strong downward force, firmly holding the system of heavy anchor bags (20) and the central anchor bag (21) to the ground.

The front center upright units (40) and the rear internal uprights (50) allow the shelter to be assembled and disassembled easily and without the use of any tools. The front center upright units (40) and the rear internal uprights (50) must be constructed of a lightweight, preferably stainless, hollow metal material with a curved top surface to avoid damaging the elastic fabric (FIG. 11). They must be configured in sections in such a way that they can be disassembled and stored in a small size.

Referring to FIG. 13 and FIG. 14, they show an alternative to the large shelter with a closed front. The front of the shelter may be completely open, as illustrated in FIG. 3 and FIG. 7, or it may be arranged as a flap, as in FIG. 14, achieving a closed configuration comprised in the same pattern. This alternative use is provided by removing the front center upright units (40) and using only the rear internal uprights (50) as tensioners.

There are other possible shelter modalities as can be seen in FIG. 15. In said figure the frontal extension of the polygonal pattern of the elastic textile cover (10) can be seen by adhering a repetition of the polygonal module of elastic textile cover (10) from seams (11'). In this configuration, as shown in FIG. 16 and FIG. 17, it can be tensioned using uprights of different sizes alternately at the front and in the middle to achieve different usage configurations.

This alternative type of shelter presents, as can be seen in FIG. 15, an extension in the frontal direction of the elastic textile cover (10) in its elementary configuration from the seam of another triangular polygon equal to the previous one, associated with skirts (30) in the form of a section of an ellipse, hyperbola or parabola.

With specific reference to FIG.15, you can see the deflector shape formed by the molding that divides the force exerted by the wind on the shelter.

In FIG. 16 and FIG. 17 the wind deflection principle observed in FIG.

2 and FIG. 5. When the removable shelter is no longer used, it is dismantled by removing and storing the uprights. They have a system for disassembling into parts joined by an elastic band and at the ends of which the terminations have curved surfaces so as not to damage the elastic textile cover (10) on the supports where it applies force. With reference to FIG. 18, the central anchor bag (21) can be seen, empty of weight material, housing the front central upright units (40), the rear internal uprights (50) and the elastic textile cover (10) in the storage bag for all the parts that make up the shelter. It can be differentiated and its functionality improved by the addition of straps that act as grab handles (15) for transport as seen in the figure.

The constant work exerted by the wind on the elastic fabric and on the front central upright (40) generates oscillations and, in continual operation, can cause the general shelter assembly to shift and slide. FIG. 19 represents the solution to the counterweight to maintain the stability of the upright and counterbalance the force of the wind. It works as an extension of the system mentioned in FIG. 10, joining a heavy anchor to a tension system through a cable or rope that is fixed to an upright, preferably the main upright or uprights of the shelter.

This alternative type of shelter presents the front central upright units (40) and the rear internal uprights (50) arranged as follows: the longest upright in the front part and the shortest upright in the insertion of the extension of the bite.

This second alternative form of shelter with extension in the front direction can be configured with the inverse arrangement of placement of the light uprights as can be seen in FIG. 16. The alternative form of shelter with extension in the front direction described in FIG. 15 being a shelter whose mouth or entrance has a greater height and the alternative form of shelter with extension in the front direction described in FIG. 17 having a mouth or entrance collapsed in the form of a flap, being an alternative to the small shelter form with a more closed front, which gives greater privacy to the occupants.

In both cases, FIG. 15 represents the top view or plan without formal or functional modifications in terms of the wind deflection generated by the morphology of the stretched elastic textile.

2 and FIG. 5. The stretched elastic fabric according to FIG. 17 has the light uprights in an inverted position compared to FIG. 16, outlining in a side view of the small version of the shelter (FIG. 2) a primitive tension line that deflects the wind direction due to its aerodynamic shape.

When the removable shelter is no longer in use, it is dismantled by removing and storing the lightweight uprights. They have a system for disassembling into parts joined by an elastic band and whose ends have curved surfaces, as can be seen in detail A (FIG. 7), so as not to damage the elastic textile cover (10) on the supports where it exerts force.

Referring to FIG. 18 the storage bag can be seen, the central heavy anchor, is emptied and houses the components, front central upright units (40), rear internal uprights (50) and the elastic textile cover (10) in the storage bag which is in turn the central anchor bag (21), housing all the parts that make up the artifact. It can be differentiated and its functionality improved with the addition of grab handles (15) that act as handles for transport as seen in the figure.

The constant work exerted by the wind on the elastic textile and on the front central post (40), generates oscillations and continuously, can cause the displacement and sliding of the general shelter assembly. FIG. 19 represents the solution to the counterweight to maintain the stability of the front central post (40) and counterbalance the force of the wind. It works as an extension of the system mentioned in FIG. 10, joining an additional heavy anchor bag (22) to a tension system passing through a cable (12) or rope that is fixed to a post, preferably the front central post (40) or the main posts of the shelter.

PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION, characterized in that it comprises an elastic textile cover (10) of polygonal shape connected at its lower perimeter by seams (11, 11') to a ground anchoring system formed by skirts (30), a rear skirt (31), heavy anchor bags (20) and a central anchor bag (21), wherein said heavy anchor bags (20) are integral with said elastic textile cover (10) through a seam (11') and in turn said central anchor bag (21) is associated with said elastic textile cover (10) by joining elements by means of a cable (12) threaded through an eyelet (13) placed on a textile reinforcement (14) at each vertex of said elastic textile cover (10); and also includes at least one front central upright (40) or rear internal uprights (50). 2. PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION, according to claim 1, characterized in that the heavy anchoring bags (20) and the central anchoring bag (21) house different materials such as sand, earth, stones or other heavy materials as a counterweight. 3. PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION, according to claim 1, characterized in that the heavy anchoring bags (20) and the central anchoring bag (21) are also attached to said elastic textile cover (10) through joining elements by means of a rope (12) threaded in an eyelet (13) placed on a textile reinforcement (14) at each vertex of said elastic textile cover (10). 4. PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION. according to claim 1, characterized in that said at least one front central upright (40) and at least one rear internal upright (50) are both made of lightweight, preferably stainless, and hollow material. 7. PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION, according to claim 1, characterized in that the skirts (30) and the central rear skirt (31) are of elliptical section. 8. PORTABLE SHELTER FOR PROTECTION FROM STRONG WINDS AND SOLAR RADIATION, according to claim 6, characterized in that the skirts (30) and the central skirt (31) are hyperbolic in shape. 9.
