The chair (1) of the invention (see figs. 1 to 3) is of the type comprising a base (2), a seat (3) and a backrest (4), and according to the invention, the backrest (4) comprises (see figs 2 and 3): - a fixed semi-backrest (5), which is fixed to the base (2) or to the seat (3),
