DESCRIPTION OBJECT OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an electric knife for cutting ham, which has advantages in its use for cutting cured ham (serrano, Iberian, ...).

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

There are several types of electric knives, but the type of blade is serrated and the cutting speed is very high, which makes them not valid for cutting cured ham, since this speed deteriorates the surface of the ham by pulling or separating fibers of the same.

An example of an electric knife comprises a handle and a mobile blade driven by an electric motor, where the blade is arranged longitudinally aligned with the handle and usually comprises two sectors or parallel parts slidingly joined together, so that each of these sectors has a reciprocating movement in opposite directions. In addition to the excessive cutting speed and serrated blade, it is too thick, and the aligned handle and blade arrangement makes handling very dangerous in the way it should be used to cut cured ham.

Another example of an electric knife would be the kebabs and similar cutting knife, which is simply a rotating circular blade with an accessible part to attack the cut, with the drawbacks mentioned above.

DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The electric knife of the invention has a configuration that allows to easily cut slices or tapas of serrano ham without deteriorating it and with safety and ergonomics.

According to the invention, the knife is of the type comprising a handle and a blade

mobile powered by an electric motor, and in addition, according to the invention comprises:

-a head, attached to the handle, and where the blade is mounted,

-a guides transverse to the blade and arranged at the ends of the head, to support said blade allowing its longitudinal movement of reciprocating,

-a means of actuating the reciprocating movement of the blade;

the engine comprising a low speed motor or provided with a reducing transmission.

Thus, the low speed of the blade makes a perfect cut without damaging the exposed upper face of the slices obtained or the ham, with the additional or unexpected advantage that the arrangement of a head allows the blade to be placed in the most ergonomic position and safe to make the cut.

The preferred speed for the low speed motor would be that which produced a linear speed of approximately 20 millimeters per second on the blade, being an attainable result in multiple ways, as already mentioned by gears or by regulating the power supply to the motor .

DESCRIPTION OF A PRACTICAL EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION

The electric ham cutting knife (1) of the invention is of the type comprising a handle (2) and a mobile blade (3) driven by an electric motor (4), and according to the invention comprises:

-a head (5), attached to the handle (2), and where the blade (3) is mounted,

-a guides (6) transverse to the blade (3) and arranged at the ends of the head (5) to support said blade (3) allowing its longitudinal reciprocating movement (see fig 1 and detail of fig 7),

-a means of actuating the reciprocating movement of the blade (3); the motor (4) comprising a low speed motor or provided with a reducing transmission, not shown.

Preferably, the cutting edge (30) of the blade (3) is straight since in this way the ham is better protected against tearing of its fibers, similar to the manual ham cutting knives.

Most preferably, as shown in the figures, the means for driving the reciprocating movement of the blade (3) comprise (see Figures 6 and 7):

- an eccentric cam (7) coupled to the motor shaft (40) (4),

- a first rocker (8) actuated by the cam (7) and coupled to a transmission cable (9) with fixed supports (10), comprising a first fulcrum (11) of said first rocker (8) which is articulated in a fixed position of the knife (preferably inside the handle),

- a second rocker arm (12) that is coupled to the opposite end of the cable (9) and the blade (3), and with a second fulcrum (14) fixed to the head (5), and

-a spring (15) recovery from a resting position of the blade (3), so that the movement of the cable (9) pulls the blade (3) in one direction and the recovery spring (15) pulls in the opposite direction producing the reciprocating movement according to the position of the cam (7) when turning. In this case, the spring (15) is arranged between the second rocker (12) and the fixed support (10), which in this case is a macaroni (10) or semi-rigid sheath through which the cable (9) runs.

In this way a very simple mechanism without gears is achieved to convert the rotary movement of the motor into a reciprocating movement of the blade regardless of the position of the motor and the blade, which allows both to be placed in any relative position. As fixed supports (10) are understood elements fixed not movably to the rest of the knife that support and lead the cable (9), which in the example of embodiment comprise, as mentioned, a macaroni (10) or semi-rigid sheath by whose inside runs the cable (9).

Additionally, the invention has provided the arrangement of a roller (17) mounted on the head (5) parallel to the blade (3), to establish the thickness of the cut, which will coincide with the distance between these two elements. The roller (17) can be mounted on the head (5) by means of regulating its position with respect to the blade (3), for example through lockable slides, not shown, to regulate the thickness of the cut, by example from professional cutting thicknesses of 0.5 millimeters, to higher thicknesses.

For its part, the head (5) is preferably arranged in a transverse position with respect to the handle (2), which increases ergonomics by allowing the cut to be attacked by pulling with the wrist in the most favorable position with respect to the arm as seen in the fig 4. Said handle (2) ideally comprises a straight section with an ergonomic gripping area (20), and which in turn comprises an inclined extension (21) with respect to the axis of the gripping zone (20), at whose end the head (5) is arranged.

The invention has provided the provision of rechargeable batteries (23) (see fig. 5) for motor power (4), as well as a power regulator (24) for motor speed regulation (4), which makes it possible to adapt the speed of cut to the hardness of the ham. It has also provided for the provision of connectors (25) for recharging the batteries (23) and / or indicators, not shown, of charge status and operation.

In addition, the handle (2) is hollow and practicable to accommodate all possible elements, such as the motor (4) and the batteries (23) and the cam (8) and first rocker (7) for example, as seen in fig 5.

Preferably the head (5) is attached to the handle (2) detachably, so that the handle (2) can be used with other implements or charcuterie elements adaptable thereto.

Sufficiently described the nature of the invention, as well as the manner in which it is carried out in practice, it should be noted that the provisions indicated above and represented in the attached drawings are subject to modifications in detail as long as they do not alter the fundamental principle.

5 10 fifteen twenty 25 30 1.-Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100); of the type comprising a handle (2) and a mobile blade (3) driven by an electric motor (4); characterized in that it comprises: a head (5), attached to the handle (2), and where the blade (3) is mounted, -a guides (6) transverse to the blade (3) and arranged at the ends of the head (5) to support said blade (3) allowing its longitudinal reciprocating movement, -a means of actuating the reciprocating movement of the blade (3); and the motor (4) comprising a low speed motor or provided with a reducing transmission. 2. - Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to claim 1 characterized in that the edge (30) of the blade (3) is straight. 3. -Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the actuating means of the reciprocating movement of the blade (3) comprise: - an eccentric cam (7) coupled to the motor shaft (40) (4), - a first rocker (8) actuated by the cam (7) and coupled to a transmission cable (9) with fixed supports (10), comprising a first fulcrum (11) of said first rocker (8) which is articulated in a fixed knife position, - a second rocker arm (12) that is coupled to the opposite end of the cable (9) and the blade (3), and with a second fulcrum (14) fixed to the head (5), and -a spring (15) recovery from a resting position of the blade (3), so that the movement of the cable (9) pulls the blade (3) in one direction and the recovery spring (15) pulls in the opposite direction producing the reciprocating movement according to the position of the cam (7) when turning. 4.-Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that it comprises a roller (17) mounted on the head (5) parallel to the blade (3) to establish the thickness of the cut. 5. -Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to claim 4 characterized in that the roller (17) is mounted on the head (5) by means of regulating its 5 10 fifteen twenty 25 30 position with respect to the blade (3) 6. Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the head (5) is arranged in a transverse position with respect to the handle (2). 8. Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the handle (2) comprises a straight section with a gripping area (20), and comprising an inclined extension (21) with respect to the axis of the gripping zone (20), at which end the head (5) is arranged. 9. -Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that it comprises rechargeable batteries (23) for motor power (4), as well as a power regulator (24) for regulation of engine speed (4). 10. -Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to claim 9 characterized in that it comprises connectors (25) for recharging the batteries (23) and / or indicators of state of charge and operation. 11.-Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the handle (2) is hollow and practicable. 12. - Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the speed for the motor (4) produces a linear speed of 20 millimeters per second in the blade (3). 13.-Electric knife (1) for cutting ham (100) according to any of the preceding claims characterized in that the head (5) is attached to the handle (2) detachably.
