Definitions
- the present invention generally relates to devices for presenting bulk products with manual sampling, in particular for sales areas.
- a shovel-type tool allows the consumer to transfer a chosen quantity of product to a sachet, after opening the bin lid.
- the latter allows the consumer to draw a quantity of product towards an outlet so that the product is poured into a bag.
- the rake comprises a handle located outside the bin, and a toothed working part located outside the bin and capable of moving the product, the rake must therefore pass through a wall of the bin while maintaining the necessary freedom of movement.
- the difficulty is to allow the movements of the rake to bring the product back towards the outlet orifice, while preventing foreign matter from penetrating inside the tank. and risk damaging or polluting its contents.
- a display device for bulk products comprising a bin, a cover, an outlet opening located in a front region of the bin and closed by a flap, and a manually operable tool, the tool comprising a handle extending through a wall of the bin and a working part located in the interior space of the bin, where the handle of the tool passes through an elongated slot formed in the cover in a general front-to-back direction on a substantial part of its extent in depth.
- this device is adapted to food products bathed in a liquid, and does not provide instruction enabling the problem below to be resolved.
- the present invention aims, in particular in the context of dry products moved towards the outlet opening using a rake-type tool, to ensure safe and effective closing of the valve.
- This device comprises a tray 100 formed by a lower part 110 surmounted by an upper part 120.
- the lower part 110 has front and rear walls 111 and 112 flared upwards, respectively towards the front and towards the rear. It also includes left and right side walls 113 and 114 which are slightly flared upwards, as well as a solid bottom 115.
- the lower part 110 of the tray 100 advantageously comprises arrangements allowing it to be fixed or abutted against or against appropriate arrangements formed on the furnishings of a sales area, in a manner known per se.
- These arrangements here include arrangements of generally square or rectangular shape 116 projecting laterally, intended to cooperate with associated arrangements provided on store furniture. Naturally, these arrangements may vary widely depending on the type of furniture to receive such bins.
- the lower part 110 of the container 100 forms in the upper part a rim 117 against which the upper part 120 of the container fits in a stable and watertight manner.
- This stability and this tightness are ensured, in a manner known per se, by arrangements of the groove and tongue type. complementary, in association with retaining means, for example of the elastic hooking teeth type.
- the upper part 120 of the tray 100 comprises a rear wall 122 and two left and right side walls 123, 124. In its front region, it comprises a chute G defined by a peripheral guide wall 121 and ensuring the communication of the interior space E formed by the lower 110 and upper 120 parts of the tray 100 with the exterior, when a product is driven towards this chute.
- the walls of the upper part 120 of the tank 100 form an upper opening 125 intended, in normal use, to be closed by a cover or hatch 130. This hatch can be removed in order to fill the interior space of the tank with the product to be collected by the consumer.
- the upper part 120 of the tank also comprises in the lower part arrangements 127 complementary to the arrangements 117 of the lower part 110, to ensure with them the aforementioned wedging and sealing, as well as retaining arrangements complementary to those of said lower part .
- arrangements, respectively 128, 138, are provided on the upper part 120 of the tank and on the periphery of the cover 130 so that the latter can be fixed on the top of the tank in a stable and waterproof manner.
- a locking device is provided. It comprises one or more tabs 131 provided at the front of the cover 130 and configured to engage below the upper part 121a of the wall 121 defining the chute G after the cover 130 has been tilted (by lifting the rear of it) relative to above part 120 of the tank, leaving an opening in which is trapped, when the cover is in place, a valve base as will be seen in detail later.
- the cover 130 is then tilted in the opposite direction to bring its periphery into intimate contact with the corresponding periphery of the upper part 120 of the tray, at the level of the arrangements 128, 138.
- One or more teeth or locking tabs (not shown) provided in the rear regions of the upper part 120 of the tray and the cover 130 make it possible to close the cover by hanging, so that it can be released by an operator.
- the cover 130 In its central region, the cover 130 has a slot 132 extending in its direction of greatest length. This slot receives a peripheral seal 140 configured to ensure the retention of a double lip seal 150, for example made of food grade elastomeric material, extending essentially over the entire length of the slot 132 and the seal 140. Both joints 150a, 150b are arranged opposite each other and are preferably overlapping when at rest.
- the slot 132 formed in the cover 130 has in its rear part an enlargement 132a having a well-determined length and width, for purposes explained later. This enlargement being located below the lip seal 150, it is essentially invisible from the outside for the consumer.
- the slot 132 is arranged in a recess 133 intended to accommodate the lip seals 150a, 150b, the gasket 140 being fixed on the cover 130 in extra thickness so as to ensure the retention of the seals.
- the fixing of the lining is ensured by a set of teeth 141 formed peripherally on the underside of the lining and intended to grip in slots 134 formed along the length of the recess 133 on either side of the slot 132
- the seals 150a, 150b are held in place by peripheral compression between the cover 130, at the level of the recess 133, and the underside of the gasket 140.
- the fixing of the trim 140 is designed so that it can only be dismantled by acting on the interior side of the cover, to limit the risk of removal by the consumer.
- the width of the longitudinal space formed by the lining 140 is preferably constant over its entire extent and equal to or slightly greater than the width of the widening 132a of the slot 132 of the cover.
- the device also comprises a one-piece part 160 forming a valve intended, when at rest, to close the chute G, preferably at the transition between the interior space E of the tank and said chute.
- This valve comprises a generally parallelepiped upper base 161 located in the upper part and a part 162 extending downwards from the base 161, thin and generally square or rectangular in shape, forming the valve itself.
- the material of the part 160 is preferably made of food grade elastomer, advantageously of the silicone type, to confer flexibility both at the level of the transition between the valve 162 and its base 161 (this flexibility can be favored by thinning , and at the level of the valve 162 itself, which can curve outwards as we will see below.
- the upper part of the chute 121 comprises a recess 121a in which, during assembly, the transition region between the base 161 and the valve 162 is wedged.
- the front edge of said cover intimately traps this transition region, to ensure stable and locked retention of the part 160 in a position where the valve part 162 completely closes the chute by relying on an existing recess at the transition between the chute 121 and the rest of the upper part 120 of the tank.
- the device also includes a flexible sleeve 190 configured to engage on the front of the chute 121.
- This sleeve includes a main part 191 capable of surrounding the front part of the chute 121, this main part being deeper in its generally horizontal and flat lower region and defining a flexible lip 192 delimited by a pair of longitudinal slots 192 located in the vicinity of the transition between said lower region and the side parts of the sleeve.
- the chute 121 has at its lower region a rearward recess 121b which allows, when the sleeve is in place on the chute as illustrated in the Figure 2 , to allow the flexible lip 192 of the sleeve the freedom to deform elastically downwards as will be seen in detail below.
- the retention in place of the sleeve 190 on the chute 121 is ensured by a rib 121d projecting upwards at the level of the upper front edge of the sleeve, this rib fitting into a recess 191a provided at the level of the upper front edge of the sleeve 190.
- the shape and dimensions of the chute 121 and the sleeve are chosen so that the front edges of these two elements are flush with each other.
- the sleeve 190 is preferably made of food grade elastomer, more preferably of silicone.
- the device comprises a rake 170 with a toothed part 171 and a handle 172.
- the toothed part here comprises five teeth extending essentially along the longitudinal axis of the rake, including three main teeth 171a and two intermediate teeth 172b which are smaller and shorter.
- the handle 172 has a rectangular cross section whose shortest dimension is very slightly less than the width of the longitudinal slot F comprises at an intermediate level a recess 173 which separates the handle into a wide upper part forming an ergonomic handle, and a part lower forming a rod, this recess also having a role explained below.
- the device advantageously comprises, below the chute G, an arrangement 129 allowing the removable attachment of an element 180 such as a label holder (paper or cardboard label, or even electronic label), these arrangements being d 'a type known per se and preferably allowing the tilting of the element 180 around a horizontal axis transverse to the device.
- an element 180 such as a label holder (paper or cardboard label, or even electronic label)
- the parts 110, 120 of the tank are assembled, then the latter is filled with the granular or powdery product to be presented.
- the part 160 being prepositioned, the cover 130, on which the gasket 140 and the flexible seal 150 are already installed, is itself put in place and locked, to thus hold and lock the part 160.
- the sleeve 190 if it is not already in place on the chute 121, is placed around it.
- the rake is placed in the slot F formed jointly by the cover 130, the gasket 140 and the seal 150 by engaging its toothed part 172 in the widening 132a formed in the posterior region of the slot, taking care to orient said toothed part in the longitudinal direction so that it can engage in the widening. Then, the rake is rotated around its axis by 90° so that its handle 171 can be moved along the slot F forward (this movement being otherwise prevented because the width of the handle 171 (of rectangular section as described) in the position in which the rake is placed would be greater than the width of the slot 132 of the cover. It will be noted here that the recess 173 provided at the level of the handle 171 of the rake makes it possible to maintain the handle portion of said handle outside the rake. device, above slot F.
- the rake is in place on the device without an uninformed user being able to remove it, because the width of the toothed part 172 of the rake is significantly greater than the width of the slot 132 (including the part enlarged 132a), and the rake, over most of the length of the slot, is prevented from rotating completely around its longitudinal axis due to the rectangular section of its handle.
- the cross sections of the handle 171 of the rake and of its toothed part 172 are not necessarily rectangular, the essential being that these cross sections have a large dimension and a small dimension, and that the large dimensions of these respective sections are not oriented in the same direction.
- the rake advantageously has a plane symmetry with respect to its longitudinal axis so that there is no imposed mounting direction.
- a consumer grasps the rake 170 by its handle 171 and makes movements typically backwards to bring the toothed part 172 of the rake into the posterior region of the bin, then downwards by translation and/or tilting to that the toothed part engages within the mass of product, then forwards by translation with if necessary tilting, to force the movement of a quantity of product in the direction of the chute G.
- the width of the handle in its working position is sufficiently smaller than the width of the slot so that the toothed part of the rake can be moved laterally in the tray, essentially by pivoting along an axis essentially coincident with the direction of the slot F, to recover the product which would be placed on the sides.
- a quantity of product P moved in this way then forces the valve 160 into the shape of a flexible comb by elastically deforming its branches 162 so that the product can exit the tray via said chute and be poured into a bag or other container positioned by the consumer.
- valve 162 and the lip 192 The behavior of the valve 162 and the lip 192 is illustrated on the Figures 2A and 2B , there Figure 2A illustrating the valve 162 and the lip 192 at rest, the valve 162 closing the tank at the level of the chute G, and the Figure 2B illustrating the elastic deformation of the valve 162 to allow the product to exit the tank via the chute when a force is exerted using the rake, and of the lip 192 to facilitate the pouring of the product into a container such as a sachet .
- the presence of the deformable lip 192 makes it possible to minimize the risk that, at the end of the spill, particles of the product prevent correct closing of the valve 162, carried out spontaneously under the effect of its own elasticity. Indeed, these particles being stressed by two parts each elastically deformable, the possibilities of escape of a particle which could be stuck are improved.
- It comprises here a tank formed in two parts 110, 220, the lower part 110 being identical to the lower part 110 of the rake device described above or an identical lower part but of different capacity (on the Figures 3 And 4 , smaller capacity).
- the upper part 220 of the tank comprises two side walls 223, 224 and a rear wall, an upper wall 225 limited to its rear part, as well as a transverse front frame 221.
- These elements include in their lower part wedging and sealing arrangements 227 intended to cooperate with the arrangements 117 of the lower part 110 of the tank.
- these elements jointly define an opening O jointly closed by three removable elements.
- a first element 230 forms a rear cover part provided in its rear part with a gripping and locking tab 131 intended to cooperate with a complementary recessed arrangement 226 formed at the level of the front edge of the upper wall 225 of the part 220 Tray.
- This element 230 has a lateral notch 231 forming, after assembly, the opening of a housing L for a manual tool as will be seen in detail below.
- a second element 240 is fixed below the element 230 by appropriate arrangements (hooking teeth, etc., in a manner known per se), and forms on the one hand a bottom wall 241a, a side wall 241b and a rear wall 241c for the aforementioned tool housing L, and on the other hand a frame 242 extending diagonally upwards and forwards, substantially over the entire width of the first element.
- the side wall 224 of the upper part 220 of the tank, and the walls 241a, 241b, 241c and the frame 242 of the element 240 jointly define a generally parallelepiped housing closed on five faces for the tool.
- a third element 250 forms another cover which is articulated at its rear edge, using arrangements 253, on associated arrangements 243 formed at the free end of the frame 242 of the second element of the part 220 .
- this articulation comprises an axis 253a projecting laterally from a frame 253b by which it is secured to the main part 251 of the cover, the ends of the axis 253a cooperating with two bearings 243a formed on the element 240 via two pads 245 formed of a soft friction material.
- the device further comprises, optionally or cumulatively, a shovel 260 with a handle 261 and a bowl 262, and/or a pliers 265 provided with two branches 265a connected by a part 265b, the material of the pliers being chosen to appropriate way.
- the assembly formed by the elements 230, 240 and 250 secured together is lifted, by operating the tab 231 provided at the rear of the element 230 and by tilting this assembly around an axis of pivoting defined by the support of the front edge of the element 251 against the frame 221, the shovel and/or the pliers possibly being able, during this operation, to remain in their housing L.
- This assembly, forming the primary cover, is then closed.
- a consumer opens the secondary cover element 250 to access the interior space of the bin through its front region.
- the articulated connection with gentle friction between element 250 and element 240 makes it possible to achieve this opening with moderate effort.
- he uses the shovel or pliers to take product from the tank and place it in a pouch or other receptacle, then replaces the shovel or pliers in its housing.
- the rake bin type device and the shovel bin type device described here may comprise lower bin parts 110 of different capacities (for example 8 liters and 12 liters).
- the rake bin a lower part 110 of the bin with a larger capacity than that of the shovel bin.
